Basketball Game Preview: Lomira Lions vs. Mayville Cardinals

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions challenge the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lomira will be strutting in after a win while Mayville will be coming in after a defeat.

Lomira will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating St. Mary's Springs, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Lomira escaped with a win on Friday against St. Mary's Springs by the margin of a single free throw, 47-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Meanwhile, Mayville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against North Fond du Lac, falling 49-23.

Lomira's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points over those games. As for Mayville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.

Everything went Lomira's way against Mayville in their previous meeting back in January, as Lomira made off with a 57-37 win. Does Lomira have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mayville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
