Baseball Recap: North Saxons vs. El Segundo Eagles
North had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-13 to make it four. They lost 8-2 to the El Segundo Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-5 loss on Wednesday.
As for El Segundo, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
For El Segundo's part, they got a great performance from Samuel Forthuber as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Forthuber has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaiden Rico, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Logan Brooks, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Coming up, North will face off against Peninsula at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for El Segundo, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-2 loss against Venice on the 19th.
