Volleyball Recap: Fairfield Central Griffins vs. Eau Claire Shamrocks

There's no place like home for Fairfield Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Eau Claire Shamrocks on Tuesday. The Griffins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Shamrocks, too.

Fairfield Central wouldn't go down easily and took Eau Claire into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-12, 23-25, 22-25, 16-14.

Several Shamrocks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Ivery, who had eight kills, three digs, and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Young, who had five kills and five aces.

Fairfield Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Eau Claire, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Mid-Carolina the next time they take the court. Fairfield Central will head out to face Mid-Carolina at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Eau Claire will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
