Softball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Tarpon Springs Spongers

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Tarpon Springs Spongers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Petersburg is looking for their season's first victory.

Thursday just wasn't the day for St. Petersburg's offense. They came up short against Seminole on Thursday, falling 18-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Green Devils were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Tarpon Springs lost 12-1 to Seminole on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Spongers in their meetings with the Warhawks: they've now lost five in a row.

Zoe Cristofori-Doran made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Tarpon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for St. Petersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went St. Petersburg's way against Tarpon Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as St. Petersburg made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Petersburg since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
