Softball Game Preview: Ambridge Bridgers vs. Northgate Flames

The Ambridge Bridgers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Northgate Flames at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Ambridge is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They lost 12-2 to Quaker Valley on Wednesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Ambridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sadie Rushman, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Northgate gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Fort Cherry.

Johna Abramowicz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayleigh Hooper, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Michaela DeFlorimonte was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
