Softball Game Preview: Anson Bearcats vs. Piedmont Panthers

Anson hasn't had much luck against Piedmont recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bearcats will be playing at home against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.

Last Monday, Anson came up short against Richmond and fell 9-4.

Meanwhile, Piedmont waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolf Pack a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tara Deese was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Madison Brown was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Piedmont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.

Piedmont's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Anson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
