Softball Recap: Silver Creek Starts Season with Win at Home

Silver Creek gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past the Southwestern Trojans 9-3. The Black Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Maddie Blair spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 16 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Priya Sakpal, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kyla Ziegler, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Looking ahead, Silver Creek will head out to face off against Lake Shore at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southwestern, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Falconer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
