Basketball Game Preview: Tuscarawas Valley Trojans vs. Sandy Valley Cardinals

Tuscarawas Valley and Sandy Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans will be playing at home against the Sandy Valley Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Tuscarawas Valley and three for Sandy Valley.

On Friday, Tuscarawas Valley ended up a good deal behind Indian Valley and lost 69-51. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while the Braves are ranked 116th).

Despite their loss, Tuscarawas Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Barrett Bandy, who went 5 for 9 en route to 12 points and five boards, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Bandy a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Kuykendall, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Sandy Valley lost to Garaway on the road by a 62-45 margin on Friday.

Tuscarawas Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Sandy Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
