Soccer Game Preview: Angleton vs. Southwest

The Angleton Wildcats will take on the Southwest Dragons on Thursday. Angleton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Angleton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand A&M Consolidated a 2-0 shutout. The victory was all the more spectacular given Angleton's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while A&M Consolidated are ranked 85th).

Jonathan Solis and Ivan Rodriguez scored both of Angleton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Southwest had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Grizzlies as they made off with a 3-0 win. The result was nothing new for Southwest, who have now won 18 games by three goals or more so far this season.

Angleton's victory bumped their record up to 15-3-5. As for Southwest, their win bumped their record up to 24-1.
