Recap: Strawberry Crest Chargers vs. Tampa Bay Tech Titans
The Strawberry Crest Chargers lost against the Tampa Bay Tech Titans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Strawberry Crest fell 42-32 to Tampa Bay Tech.
Strawberry Crest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elektra Ribot, who scored 12 points. Ribot scored a full 37.5% of Strawberry Crest's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Tia, who scored nine points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tampa Bay Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Breanna Hartley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Azjannie Culberth, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and eight steals.
Strawberry Crest has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Tampa Bay Tech, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strawberry Crest is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Sumner at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. Sumner presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Strawberry Crest in Florida (Sumner is ranked 101st, while Strawberry Crest is ranked 450th). As for Tampa Bay Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against Lennard at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
