Softball Recap: Robertson County Black Devils vs. Nicholas County Bluejackets

Robertson County had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it 18. They lost 15-0 to the Nicholas County Bluejackets. If the Black Devils were looking for revenge after losing 20-1 to the Bluejackets when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Nicholas County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-19. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.

For Nicholas County's part, Caroline Banks was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Banks has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Watkins, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robertson County will challenge Ludlow at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Black Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nicholas County, they will face off against Augusta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bluejackets are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
