Baseball Game Preview: Esperanza Aztecs vs. Laguna Beach Breakers

Esperanza is 0-3 against Laguna Beach since April of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Esperanza Aztecs will venture away from home to face off against the Laguna Beach Breakers at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Esperanza picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Valley Christian 5-4.

Esperanza got a great performance from River Sanchez as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

At the plate, Grady Warner was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Adam Tway, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Laguna Beach put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Calvary Chapel.

Jake Martinez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Adams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Becker Sybirski was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Laguna Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Laguna Beach's record now sits at 3-0. As for Esperanza, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
