Softball Recap: Chesapeake Takes Down Severn Run in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chesapeake had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Severn Run Wolves a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Chesapeake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Severn Run, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Chesapeake will challenge Arundel on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 1.6, the Wildcats 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Severn Run does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
