Baseball Recap: Honoka'a Picks Up 15th Consecutive Victory

Honoka'a waltzed into their game on Wednesday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. Everything went their way against the Kohala Cowboys as they made off with a 16-1 victory. That's the fifth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 11-0 victory on Monday.

Jayden Salazar made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac DeRego, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josyah Napoleon-Umeda, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Honoka'a's record is now 15-1. As for Kohala, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

As of now, neither Honoka'a nor the Cowboys have any future games scheduled.
