Flag Football Recap: Huntington Beach Picks Up 18th Consecutive Win

Huntington Beach waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 17 straight wins... but they left with 18. They came out on top against the El Toro Chargers by a score of 24-12. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Oilers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Chargers are ranked 55th).

Huntington Beach's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roxie Shaia, who threw for 355 yards and four touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Shaia has posted since back in August. Huntington Beach's leading receiver Taylor Savage was Shaia's top target yet again, picking up 110 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Huntington Beach's record now sits at 22-1. As for El Toro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season.

Huntington Beach wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 40-12 win against Fountain Valley on the 13th. As for El Toro, they will take on Mission Viejo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Diablos' defense has only allowed 12.7 points per game this season, so the Chargers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
