Basketball Recap: East Bay Comes Up Short

East Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Spoto Spartans. The Indians were probably out for revenge after losing 62-48 to them when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why East Bay lost, don't look at Lamardea Anderson. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points. Anderson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Quarterman, who put up nine points.

Spoto's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Antonio, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Jesse Harden was another key player, putting up eight points along with 13 boards and three blocks.

East Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Spoto, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

East Bay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-52 loss against Upperman on the 20th. As for Spoto, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Durant at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
