Baseball Recap: Riverside Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Huntingdon, Riverside was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hickman County Bulldogs a 12-0 shutout. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

James England was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Riverside got a big performance out of Cody Brasher, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Landon Vaughan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base.

Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.

Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Hickman County, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-8.

Riverside didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 win against Hickman County on the 7th. As for Hickman County, they have also already played their next game, a 9-3 defeat against Cornersville on the 9th.
