Softball Game Preview: Canyon View Falcons vs. North Sanpete Hawks

The Canyon View Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the North Sanpete Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Canyon View is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Juab hit Canyon View with a five-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons fell just short of the Wasps by a score of 10-9.

Alina Sluder and Payton Castillo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sluder went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Castillo went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Emree Bjerregaard also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, North Sanpete made easy work of Richfield on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

McKenzie Madsen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten contests. Alivia Madsen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

North Sanpete kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for North Sanpete and bumps their season record up to 14-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Canyon View, their loss dropped their record down to 6-18.

Canyon View suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to North Sanpete in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
