Softball Recap: Brunswick's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Brunswick dropped their record down to 6-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Elena Osowski made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Compton, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Bloom-Carroll, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 12-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.4 runs this season.

On Bloom-Carroll's side, Emma Brandt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. Brandt has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ady Luke was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Madelyn Gates was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Coming up, Brunswick will head out on the road to challenge Hilliard Davidson at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bloom-Carroll, they will host Tippecanoe at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2.3, the Red Devils 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
