Soccer Game Preview: Speedway vs. Roncalli

The Speedway Sparkplugs are taking a road trip to face off against the Roncalli Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Speedway is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They put the hurt on Monrovia with a sharp 10-0 win on Tuesday. Given Speedway's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Monrovia are ranked 314th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roncalli, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They skirted past Lawrence North 3-2.

Speedway is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five matchups. As for Roncalli, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
