Covenant Day came tearing into Monday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 57-19 blowout they got against the Covenant Classical Warriors. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Covenant Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Houseton, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Houseton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Dix, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Covenant Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Covenant Classical's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Trinity Creason, who had nine points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Amelia Miller, who put up no points.

Covenant Day's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Covenant Classical, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4.

Covenant Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-27 loss against Providence Day on the 7th. As for Covenant Classical, they will head out to square off against Valor Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
