Baseball Recap: Phillips Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Phillips Academy can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Phillips Exeter Academy Lions as they made off with an 8-2 win. The Big Blue not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 10-1).

Liam Lennon looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Phillips Academy is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jun An was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Phillips Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Phillips Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Phillips Exeter Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Looking ahead, Phillips Academy will face off against Brooks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Phillips Exeter Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Winchendon at 4:00 p.m. The Wapiti's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
