Karnes City hasn't had much luck against Stockdale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Badgers are taking a road trip to face off against the Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Karnes City's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Karnes City and Dilley, and Karnes City kept the tradition alive. The Badgers breezed past the Wolves to the tune of 41-14 on Friday. With the Badgers ahead 27-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Israel Soto continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles. Savion Nixon-Thompson was another key player, rushing for 66 yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Karnes City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 349 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Stockdale came up short against Poth on Friday and fell 27-20. The loss continues a trend for the Brahmas in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost seven in a row.
Karnes City will have to keep a close watch on Trenton Gordon and Coy Gann, a pair of players who had a big impact on Stockdale's prior game. Gordon rushed for 81 yards and one score on only five carries, while Gann rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown. Gordon's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Karnes City pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points over those games. As for Stockdale, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Karnes City has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 327.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Stockdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 289 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Karnes City couldn't quite get it done against Stockdale in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 28-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gann, who rushed for 202 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. Now that the Badgers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
