Animas' loss ends seven-game winning streak at home

The Animas Panthers lost against the Cliff Cowboys/Cowgirls two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Animas took a 48-34 bruising from Cliff. It was the first time this season that Animas let down their fans at home.

Animas' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laikyn Davenport, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Cadence Green, who scored no points along with six rebounds and two blocks.

Animas' loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-6. As for Cliff, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Animas will head out on the road to square off against Reserve at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Reserve is ranked 74th, while Animas is ranked 73rd). As for Cliff, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Quemado at 4:00 p.m. Quemado is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
