Basketball Game Preview: Washington School for the Deaf Terriers vs. Three Rivers Christian Eagles

The Washington School for the Deaf Terriers will venture away from home to challenge the Three Rivers Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington School for the Deaf will be strutting in after a win while Three Rivers Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

Washington School for the Deaf will head into Saturday's match on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Utah School for the Deaf & Blind on Saturday. Washington School for the Deaf took their game with ease, bagging a 47-17 victory over Utah School for the Deaf & Blind. The win was all the more spectacular given the Terriers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 375th in Washington, while the Eagles are ranked 143rd in Utah).

Washington School for the Deaf got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Omar Barragan-Lopez out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Barragan-Lopez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Yerkes, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Washington School for the Deaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Three Rivers Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Columbia Adventist Academy 79-36. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.

Washington School for the Deaf is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.7 points. As for Three Rivers Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Washington School for the Deaf suffered a grim 48-23 defeat to Three Rivers Christian in their previous matchup back in January. Can Washington School for the Deaf avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
