Softball Recap: Alexandria Continues Road Dominance on Monday

White Plains typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Alexandria proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Wildcats. The Valley Cubs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Pressley Slaton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Slaton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brenlee Sparks was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-5. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had over her last eight matches. Another player making a difference was Allyssa Hunt, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.

Alexandria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Alexandria's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 28-8-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for White Plains, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.

Alexandria and White Plains should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Valley Cubs (ranked 17th) will meet Oxford (ranked 119th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, White Plains will square off against Cleburne County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (62 vs. 327).
