Basketball Game Preview: Springer Red Devils vs. Des Moines Demons

The Springer Red Devils and the Des Moines Demons will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in Springer's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

On Tuesday, Springer got the win against New Mexico School for the Deaf by a conclusive 83-57. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Roadrunners: they've now won six in a row.

Springer found their leader in sophomore Pablo Romero, who shot 69% from the field en route to 26 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Romero's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Armijo, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 16 points and five assists.

Springer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Des Moines, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 75-74 victory over Maxwell.

Springer's win bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Des Moines, their victory bumped their record up to 12-15.

Springer was able to grind out a solid win over Des Moines in their previous matchup on Saturday, winning 66-53. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
