Football Recap: Port Charlotte Skates Past Lehigh with Ease + How To Watch

Port Charlotte extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 49-13 victory over the Lehigh Lightning. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Lightning are ranked 243rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Port Charlotte's win came down to the chemistry between Logan Flaherty and his top target Dallas Lambert. Flaherty threw for 144 yards and four touchdowns while Lambert picked up 84 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Flaherty has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Port Charlotte was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Port Charlotte, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Elias Pearl, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for Lehigh, they now have a losing record of 1-2. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Lehigh's loss came despite strong showings from Rayful Guest and Kendrick Major. Guest threw for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Major rushed for 71 yards.

Looking ahead, Port Charlotte will take on Venice at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lehigh, they will square off against North Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
