Softball Recap: Chatham Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chatham entered their tilt with Halifax County on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Comets. This was a revenge game for the Cavaliers: when they faced off against the Comets two weeks ago, they had to take a 11-0 loss.

Corra Liggon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jasmine Smoot, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The win got Chatham back to even at 7-7. As for Halifax County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chatham will welcome William Campbell at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Halifax County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against George Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
