Football Recap: Powell County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Powell County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 40-26 bruising from the Pike County Central Hawks. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Pike County Central's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Lane Adams and Brett Adkins. Adams rushed for 115 yards and one score on only 13 carries while Adkins rushed for 11 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Adams posted -4 receiving yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

Powell County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Pike County Central, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.

Looking ahead, Powell County will challenge Bell County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Bobcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last nine matchups. Pike County Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
