Softball Recap: Wabash Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rochester, Wabash was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Elwood Panthers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Apaches have posted since April 26th.

Kalli Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on MyKenzie Renn, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andi Conliff, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Wabash hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elwood struck out seven times.

Wabash's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Elwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Coming up, Wabash will host Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Elwood has already played their next match (against Marion), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
