Recap: Butte Valley Bulldogs vs. Big Valley Cardinals
The Butte Valley Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Big Valley Cardinals with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Butte Valley snuck past Big Valley with a 58-54 win on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Butte Valley also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Butte Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Burrow, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Burrow hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Jacob Allen was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and four steals.
Leif Lewis and Tzintzintli Moya certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Lewis scored 20 points along with six rebounds, while Moya scored 11 points. It was the first time this season that Lewis scored 15 or more points.
Butte Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Big Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
Butte Valley will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bethel Christian at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Bethel Christian is coming into the matchup with three straight losses at home, meaning Butte Valley will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Big Valley will take on Plumas Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Plumas Charter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.
