Football Game Preview: Gilbert Tigers vs. Desert Mountain Wolves + How To Watch

The Gilbert Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Desert Mountain Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gilbert will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Gilbert took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Skyline 43-21. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gilbert's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcus Ronquillo led the charge by rushing for 154 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Those 154 rushing yards gave Ronquillo a new career-high. Jonathan Guy was another key pass catcher, gaining 97 total yards and a touchdown.

Despite a strong season so far, Desert Mountain has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a hard 37-23 fall against Notre Dame Prep on Friday.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Desert Mountain, racking up 11 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Koen Bradley: he added nine points with three field goals and another two kicking extra points.

The victory got Gilbert back to even at 5-5. As for Desert Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Gilbert ended up a good deal behind Desert Mountain when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 40-21. Thankfully for the Tigers, Brady Mcdonough (who threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 103 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
