Baseball Recap: Gorman Comes Up Short

Gorman extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-8. They came up short against the Stephenville FAITH Knights, falling 11-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 8-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Gorman saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelby Wycoff, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Another was Tristan Lee, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Stephenville FAITH, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

On Stephenville FAITH's side, Henry House and Wyatt Feemster made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, House tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Feemster pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. House is becoming a predictor of Stephenville FAITH's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). At bat, House went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Feemster went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Houston Salinas, who went 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Stephenville FAITH: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. John Masters also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Gorman will square off against May at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Stephenville FAITH, they will face off against Azle Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
