Softball Recap: Eastmont Starts Season with Win on the Road

Eastmont had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the Ephrata Tigers on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brittany Howe made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Liz Fulbright was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Halle Radach, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Eastmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ephrata only posted a batting average of .125.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Eastmont beat Ephrata by a score of 18-2 later that day.
