Preview: Harrison Raiders vs. Benton Central Bison

The Harrison Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Benton Central Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harrison is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

Harrison posted their biggest win since November 4, 2023 on Saturday. They breezed by Muncie Central at home to the tune of 59-15. Given Harrison's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Muncie Central is ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Harrison's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Elsie Ahnert, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Riley Whitlock, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Whitlock continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Guyer, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Benton Central came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Western with a 50-46 win.

Harrison now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Benton Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.

Harrison strolled past Benton Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 64-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harrison since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
