University suffers fifth straight loss on the road

This season hasn't been kind to the University Titans, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were beaten by New Smyrna Beach 69-20 on Wednesday. University was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-16.

Aliya Rosado Cucalon was University's leading scorer, having posted six points. Rosado Cucalon held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Corrin Austell had an outrageously good game for New Smyrna Beach as she scored 23 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Austell continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Selecia Richburgh, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds.

University's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for New Smyrna Beach, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will take on Father Lopez at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Smyrna Beach, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seabreeze at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seabreeze is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
