Softball Game Preview: Fort Wayne Wayne Generals vs. New Haven Bulldogs

Fort Wayne Wayne is 0-7 against New Haven since May of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Generals will host the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Fort Wayne Wayne's offense. They came up short against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on Monday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Generals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, New Haven can bid farewell to their 13-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Huntington North. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Vikings on their field since May 16, 2016.

The team relied heavily on Sophia Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Maddie Jewell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

New Haven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington North only posted an OBP of .389.

Fort Wayne Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for New Haven, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-21.
