Baseball Recap: Polytechnic Comes Up Short

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Polytechnic and North Side have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Parrots took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Steers. The Parrots have struggled against the Steers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Polytechnic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hector Ruiz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. The Parrots are 2-1 when Ruiz posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-14-1 otherwise.

Polytechnic's loss dropped their record down to 7-15-1. As for North Side, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-19.

Coming up, Polytechnic will square off against Paschal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Parrots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for North Side, they will take on South Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
