Tyler Saville tossed a big game, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Carlos Carrasco was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mission Heights Prep). Everything went their way against Imagine Prep Coolidge on Monday as Mission Heights Prep made off with a 25-1 victory. Considering the Phantoms have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kamden Muffler made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Mission Heights Prep got a massive performance out of Cameron Mata, who scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Daniel Vargas was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Mission Heights Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Imagine Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mission Heights Prep, their win bumped their record up to 4-2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Imagine Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mission Heights Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
