League recap: Altoona extends undefeated streak to five games

Central Penn league recap: 5/29/12

Altoona (15-5, 6-3) is riding a league-best 5-game winning streak. The streak was extended by another two games over the past week, including a 2-1 win over Central Mountain.

Punxsutawney currently sits at the top of the league with a mark of 13-4 overall and 8-1 in the league. Altoona sits two games back in second, with a 6-3 record in league play.

The Lions' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and six walks to lead the league in both categories. On the season, Altoona has allowed just 110 hits, while striking out 124 batters. Christian Helsel leads Altoona with 39 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched.
