Basketball Recap: Burney Raiders vs. Chester Volcanoes
Burney managed to keep up with Chester until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Burney Raiders came up short against the Chester Volcanoes, falling 64-44. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-21 last Friday.

Despite the loss, Burney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore James Fields dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Fields' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Germaine Maldonado, who posted eight points.
Burney dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Chester, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Surprise Valley the next time they take the court. Chester will head out to face Surprise Valley at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Burney will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
