Softball Recap: Lake City Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Lake City made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Post Falls, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Timberwolves were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Trojans on Saturday. Considering the Timberwolves have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Madeline Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, KaeLee Kolden was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn DeMent, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

Kolden wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lake City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.

Lake City's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Post Falls, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Lake City will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
