Football Recap: Pendleton Comes Up Short

After flying high against West-Oak last Friday, Pendleton came back down to earth. The Bulldogs were dealt a 52-22 loss at the hands of the Belton-Honea Path Bears on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Belton-Honea Path's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Thomas led the charge by throwing for 242 yards and five TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 97 yards and one score. Those five passing touchdowns gave Thomas a new career-high. Belton-Honea Path's leading receiver Tajeh Watson-Martin was Thomas' top target yet again, picking up 215 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Pendleton's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Belton-Honea Path, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Coming up, Pendleton will challenge Crescent at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Belton-Honea Path, they will take on Walhalla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
