Basketball Recap: Groesbeck Takes a Loss

Groesbeck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Westwood Panthers 83-16. The match marked the Goats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Westwood found their leader in sophomore Kavian Bryant, who went 11 for 20 on his way to 30 points and four steals. Bryant's evening made it 27 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Carter, who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points and six assists.

Groesbeck's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Westwood, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-7.

Groesbeck will take on Mexia at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Westwood, they will challenge Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Fairfield likes a good challenge.
