Baseball Recap: Surry Central Takes a Loss

Surry Central has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.47 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to the West Wilkes Blackhawks. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Blackhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Surry Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Pardue, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Pardue is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Surry Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for West Wilkes, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.

West Wilkes will venture away from home to square off against Ashe County at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Surry Central will be paying especially close attention to the Blackhawks' game: after the Blackhawks faces off against the Huskies, they'll take on Surry Central again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
