Football Recap: Huge Rushing Attack Leads Silver Creek over Gilroy + How To Watch

Silver Creek's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Gilroy Mustangs by a score of 17-7. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Jordan Thompson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 133 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Silver Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilroy only rushed for 80.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nikolas Sanchez, who rushed for 63 yards, and also picked up 54 receiving yards.

Silver Creek now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Gilroy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Silver Creek and Gilroy will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Raiders will square off against rival Pioneer at 7:15 p.m. on the 10th. Meanwhile, Gilroy is set to face off against their familiar foe Willow Glen at 7:15 p.m. on the 10th.
