Baseball Recap: Goose Creek Gators vs. Wando Warriors

Goose Creek extended their losing streak to ten on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-14-2 in the process. They came up short against the Wando Warriors, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-0 loss on Tuesday.

As for Wando, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Wando's part, Evan Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brady Gold was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jake Downing, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
