Marana is 2-8 against Tucson High Magnet School since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Badgers at 6:00 p.m. Marana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Marana will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against West Point on Wednesday. The Tigers blew past the Dragons 15-5. Considering the Tigers have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Winter tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marana let Bella Sanchez and Kyla Layton run wild. Sanchez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Layton scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave Layton a new career-high. Brooke Beck was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Marana hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 9-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Tucson High Magnet School entered their tilt with Cienega on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 7-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Alyssa Torres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Adreana Hernandez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Grigsby, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Marana's record now sits at 15-11. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their record is now 17-8.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marana hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. However, it's not like Tucson High Magnet School struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marana couldn't quite get it done against Tucson High Magnet School in their previous matchup last Tuesday as they fell 11-6. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
