After both having extra time off, the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes and the Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Hightower knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Fort Bend Austin likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Fort Bend Hightower got the win against Fort Bend Clements by a conclusive 15-2. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Baylee Bonner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amiyah Lee, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Austin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Friday. They lost 20-12 to Fort Bend Travis.
Bristol Page led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Roxanna Ramirez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Even though they lost, Fort Bend Austin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Fort Bend Austin's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-7. As for Fort Bend Hightower, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1-2.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fort Bend Hightower hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Fort Bend Austin struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Bend Hightower came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Bend Austin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will Fort Bend Hightower repeat their success, or does Fort Bend Austin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
